The Jōnin (上忍, Jōnin) are one of the highest class of ninja that can be obtained. He manipulated his way into the title, but was killed soon afterward. He took leadership as Tsunade was in a coma from defending the village against the Akatsuki. Sixth Hokageĭanzo Shimura was temporarily the Sixth Hokage.
She was selected by the Leaf Village Council to be Hokage after Hiruzen's death. She's the grand daughter of the Hashirama Senju and one of the legendary Sannin, that made of the students of Hiruzen Sarutobi. He sacrificed his own life to stop the Nine-Tailed Fox's rampage from destroying the village by sealing it into his own son, Naruto Uzumaki. He was a disciple of Jiraiya, who was one of the students of Hiruzen Sarutobi. While he had eventually retired and appointed a Fourth Hokage, he returned to lead after the death of the Fourth. Hiruzen was the disciple of the Second Hokage, and his time in leadership was one of the longest. He is the younger brother of Hashirama, and he took on the role of leadership after his brother's death. Hashirama Senju is the first Hokage and one of the main founders of the Hidden Leaf Village.
Each of the Hokage has had their faces carved into the memorial mountain that overlooks the village. They are responsible for governing and protecting the village and its people. Only the most skilled and admired of the Leaf Village Ninja are appointed to this position. The Hokage (火影, Hokage) is the leader of the Leaf Village.
